This love story is both tragic and romantic. Liz Goodman and Matt Logelin initially met, fell in love, and had a child together, but Liz died soon after giving birth. It was really inspiring what Matt accomplished after she died.
Despite growing up in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Liz and Matt’s true love story began when they met by chance at a gas station.
In their senior year of high school, Liz and Matt first met. He became fixated on Liz, and they grew close.
As their graduation date drew nearer, they had to admit that they were studying at colleges across the country. Matt remained at the University of Minnesota while Liz traveled to California. This caused the two high school lovers to part ways.
This couple persevered and remained together throughout their studies, so the distance didn’t matter to them. Matt considered going for a Ph. D. after receiving his master’s degree from Loyola University of Chicago, but quickly came to the conclusion that he ought to go with his heart as opposed to his head.
He moved halfway across the country to Los Angeles in 2005 after realizing he could no longer bear to be so far away from his love. After that, the two kept leading active lives.
They created memories, had adventures, and discovered more about one another and their surroundings. Matt proposed to Liz by getting down on one knee in Nepal when he realized that this was it.
In front of their friends and family, Liz and Matt exchanged vows of enduring love on August 13, 2005. It was thrilling to watch these couples seize the day and their passion by the horns.
The young couple seemed to be content in every way. They were happier than ever in their careers as well as their romantic relationships.
Liz worked for Disney as a financial specialist, and Matt worked for Yahoo! in California as a project manager.
After that, everything simply improved.
After being married for two years in 2007, the couple made the decision to start a family, and they were overjoyed to find out Liz was expecting their first child!
To update their friends and family who live in Minnesota on Liz’s pregnancy development, Liz and Matt made the decision to start a blog.
The couple couldn’t wait any longer for the arrival of their first child, but Liz’s pregnancy proved difficult. Since she had severe morning sickness, her doctor advised her to stay in bed for a few weeks.
The entire time Liz was pregnant, Matt and Liz maintained a positive attitude.
Matt nervously observed Liz’s every move as her pregnancy progressed.
He was upset to see his wife, who is usually vivacious and active, in bed.
Liz was told to remain in bed for a few more weeks after being admitted to the hospital. Throughout the process, Matt kept posting updates to their recently launched blog. What he would soon need to publish on the website was unknown to him.
Liz twice had to be taken to the delivery room because of false alarms because her pregnancy was deemed to be high risk. She arrived at least seven weeks ahead of schedule each time. The doctors watched her closely because they didn’t want to take any chances.
The couple welcomed Madeline (Maddy) Logelin into their family after she was delivered via emergency C-section two months early. The Logelins’ lives were about to change on March 24, 2008. Weighting 3 pounds, 14 ounces, the newborn daughter was.
Before being rushed to the newborn intensive care unit, Liz barely had a chance to see the adorable baby daughter of the delighted new parents (who was photographed). After the birth, Liz couldn’t immediately hold their daughter because she had to be kept under observation for 24 hours.
Liz was ready and eager to see her newborn girl, who was now awake and healthy since everything had been finished. Wheelchair-bound Liz arrived at the ward.
He could understand Matt’s dismay when his wife suddenly felt faint because they were eager to spend some mother-child time together.
The nurses immediately clarified that new mothers frequently experience this. Matt calmed down and they could enjoy the rest of their time together.
Matt recalled how things were going well before they had to perform a code blue. He cried out in frustration and said that people were rushing around. Soon after giving birth to their daughter Madeline, Liz unexpectedly passed away from a pulmonary embolism.
Because of this, Matt was now a widower, which made him sad. The pregnant blog was supposed to be happy, but after Liz died, it turned into a very depressing place. In just one day, Matt’s life underwent a dramatic change.
The worst for Matt were the initial weeks following the death of his wife. He would recall the moment his inability to take off his wedding ring caused his life to change irrevocably. He often questioned how he would function without Liz.
He encountered challenges on the way home, and Liz’s memory followed him everywhere. Whenever guests inquired about the mother of the child, Matt would frankly reply that she had passed away soon after Madeline was born. Even leaving the house was difficult.
The only thing that kept him going was the knowledge that Madeline needed him and that she possessed a small portion of his beloved wife’s soul. Matt was committed to giving her the best life he could, despite his grief. He then started posting to a parenting discussion forum run by his local newspaper. His journey didn’t end there, though.
Maddy Logelin celebrated her tenth birthday on March 24. Ten years earlier, her mother Liz had tragically passed away on the same day. Her father, relatives, and friends have made every effort to encircle her with love and happiness despite her traumatic past.
Matt has kept his blog’s content more private as Maddy has aged. Over the years, Maddy has gained a lot of knowledge about her mother from tales and images, and her interest in her has only increased.
She constantly questions her late mother’s partner about their past activities, and one day innocently asked her father, “Daddy, did you hold my mommy’s hand when she passed away?”.
Despite Matt’s best efforts, the incident from that day will always be remembered despite his straightforward explanation to his young daughter. After the conversation, Maddy said she loved her father, and Matt recalled that this was just the thing he needed to hear. “I also love you, Maddy,” he added. ”.
